Matanuska Electric Association serves more than 54,600 customers in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley and Chugiak-Eagle River area of Alaska. Founded in 1941, the state's first electric cooperative is headquartered in Palmer, in the heart of the Mat-Su Borough. MEA also has district offices in Wasilla and Eagle River (in the Municipality of Anchorage) and a Big Lake Engineering office.
Alaska's oldest and second-largest electric cooperative, MEA is owned and operated by its members. MEA's mission is to excel at providing high quality, competitive energy-related services that benefit our member-owners. MEA had revenues of nearly $85 million in 2006, with more than $202.5 million in total assets.
