Updating your phone numbers with MEA
When you call MEA’s automated outage line to make a report, our system recognizes your location by your phone number. Currently, our automated outage system can recognize two phone numbers per customer. This allows you to call in an outage with your home phone or a phone attached to a fax line. You can also choose to list your cellular phone as a second number.
MEA will soon be upgrading the system to handle three phone numbers per customer. The system refers to these three numbers as home, work and mobile, however, you could substitute a second home line or cell number for any of these.
MEA customers can call 761-9555 from the Mat-Su or 689-9555 from Eagle River or Anchorage to make changes to your phone number information.
To do this you will need your account number (which can be found on your bill), a touch-tone phone, and some patience. The computer that answers the automated system is slow and methodical to ensure correct entries of your account number and phone numbers.
This system will allow you to update your home, business and cellular phone numbers. During initial tests, the automated system updates our records in as little as five to ten seconds, ensuring all of your contact information is instantly up to date!
This system is designed to work anywhere in the United States. You will have to enter a 10-digit number for any contact information, so don’t forget the area code! If you want to find out what numbers we already have on file, you can call any MEA office during business hours to speak with our customer service staff.
Automated phone system allows billing inquiry and payment options
Now you can find out billing information over the phone! The same system used for updating telephone contact information with MEA will also allow customers to find out how much is owed on a bill or how much they paid last month. Customers will need to have their account number handy, which can be found on your monthly billing statement.
