MEA News:

Volunteers Wanted

MEA has more opportunities for community service than you can shake a set of minutes at. We have the following committees:

  • Bylaws Committee -- a seven-member standing committee charged with reviewing the co-op’s bylaws and amendments.
  • Member Advisory Committee(MAC): When requested, the MAC is charged with providing member feedback to MEA's Board of Directors.
  • Nominating Committee -- a seven-member committee whose task is to review and nominate candidates for the Board of Directors.
  • Scholarship Committee -- this committee’s task is to review scholarship applications, interview the scholarship finalists and select the students who will receive scholarships from MEA’s scholarship program, which is funded from earnings from unclaimed capital credits.

Other than recognition and personal satisfaction, there is no payment for serving on these committees. However, MEA does reimburse committee members for mileage and provides refreshments at the meetings. MEA’s member committees meet as needed.

“Serving on an MEA committee is a way to serve your electric cooperative and get to know your fellow co-op members better,” said General Manager Joe Griffith. “Over the years, the committees have been an enormous help to the board and MEA members.”

Please consider serving on an MEA committee. Applications are available at www.MEA.coop , MEA offices, or may be requested by calling 761-9212, or 689-9212.
