Matanuska Electric Association (MEA) is now accepting applications from members interested in serving on the MEA Board of Directors. Two Board seats will be up for election in April 2026, and MEA encourages qualified members to consider this important leadership role.
The following Board seats are open for the 2026 election:
Members can determine which district they reside in by using MEA’s District Map Search Tool, reviewing their monthly billing statement, or by contacting Member Services at 907-761-9300.
Completed Board candidate applications must be submitted by
5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026.
Members may:
MEA is a member-owned electric cooperative governed by a seven-member Board of Directors, consisting of four District seats and three At-Large seats. Board members provide policy direction, oversee the cooperative’s financial health, and help guide long-term planning to ensure reliable and affordable power for MEA members.
Board members serve four-year terms and may serve up to three consecutive terms, after which a two-year break is required before serving again. The Board typically meets on the second Monday of each month at 4:00 p.m. at MEA’s headquarters in Palmer.
Candidates must meet eligibility requirements outlined in MEA Bylaws, including being a member in good standing, meeting residency requirements, and avoiding conflicts of interest. Full qualification details are available within the Board Candidate Application and MEA Bylaws.
