City of Wasilla and Palmer Residents can apply for CARES funding utility relief

The application period has closed for members to apply for utility relief with CARES act funding provided by the City of Wasilla and City of Palmer. The Mat-Su Borough will apply funding to outstanding balances for members who had previously signed a Sworn COVID-19 statement.

Palmer, AK – The City of Wasilla and City of Palmer is working with Matanuska Electric Association to provide CARES funding to city residents who have been financially impacted by COVID-19 for utility relief. MEA residential Members that reside within City of Wasilla or City of Palmer city limits can apply for funding for their current or past due balance on their MEA account. 


City of Wasilla residents are being provided up to $500 in electric utility relief and City of Palmer residents are being provided up to $1,000 in electric utility relief and grants amounts are awarded on the members current balance. 


Utility relief applications are due by Nov. 30, 2020. This application is only for residential customers within the City of Wasilla or City of Palmer limits. Applicants will also need to fill out and sign the “COVID-19 Sworn Statement” if they have not submitted one to MEA yet. MEA is working with the Mat-Su Borough and Municipality of Anchorage to establish a similar utility relief program with CARES funding for members financially impacted by COVID-19.
