MEA’s Board of Directors has approved the cooperative’s 2026 budget, which includes a comprehensive slate of capital improvement and maintenance projects designed to strengthen system reliability for our members.

The 2026 capital plan features more than a dozen projects across MEA’s service area, including:

• Construction of the new Meadow Lakes Substation
• Completion of Phase 1 of the Pittman to Fishhook transmission line
• Upgrades to the McRae Substation
• Conversion of overhead lines to underground along Citation Road
• Distribution system looping projects in Tanaina, Meadow Lakes, and Eagle River
• Underground cable replacement projects in Chugiak, Eklutna, and Palmer

These investments are part of MEA’s ongoing commitment to deliver safe, reliable power and to proactively maintain and modernize critical infrastructure across our system.
